Jasmine update

My cat decided to be naughty this afternoon and lick the whole surface of the butter tub I left the lid, coarse sandpaper tongue marks gave the game away, plus the guilty run out of my kitchen when I stood up.

I have now had Jasmine a week and day and loving every minute of it, she has fitted right into to my home, and spend her time pinning me to chair.

Jasmine has now met Julie, but no one else since last Sunday, since I told everyone I was busy this weekend, and I was until the event was cancelled.

Jasmine drug user

The Cat Protection League gave me a goody bag as I left, one of the items in it was a little fabric bag of Catnip which is a legal recreational drug for Cats. So just as left work I gave the catnip to Jasmine who rolled all over the bag, and when I came home later the bag had green stains where she had chewed through the material so I guess she is now a drug user.

Settling in nicely, Jasmine now has a toy (Emu like) bird she keeps dropping at my feet to play fetch, and as soon as I grow tired of throwing it to different corners of the room she chews it & deposit little blue fur patches all over my carpet. The bird now has a neck that is just about attached to the body with one thread.

1st Pictures of Jasmine

A few more picture of Jasmine here

These where taken 1 hour after collection, she is Tonkinese, not a Siamese as I originally thought, currently doing a lot of investigating and hiding as soon as stand or move, however I have got her to play with a toy, so I think she will settle in quick.

Cat Collection League Say YES

Checked out by the Cat Protection League this lunch, which seemed to involve them spending 5 minutes telling me what food Jasmine's (the cat I'm adopting) been eating, when do you want to collect her, the woman took an hour and 10 minutes to get to me, and her only comments about where I lived was yes its busy road as you said.
Still I suspect its for their peace of mind, they rescue cats from some nasty places, the last thing they want is to send them back to the same.

Arranged to collect Jasmine on Saturday so will need to spend the morning getting essentials, most of which I owned a year ago.

The Cat is tagged and the tag will be registered to my home.

So very happy, but tinged with a little sadness as I also read my Brothers post on LJ about my mums Cats Scooby today, after he visited her last night, he doesn’t live close so his visit are irregular.

In his post he put Scooby is very thin, you can feel his ribs and other bones as if they are poking through the skin. He is unable to jump on the worktop any more and when he jumped off a chair he swayed and staggered and more, he went on to say its possibly the last time he will see him.

Needless to say in the post Stephen my Brother sounded very upset, Scooby was his Cat when he lived at home with our mother, he named him and Scooby has a soft spot for him and visa versa.

They don't like cats

Gosh I find myself amazed (well at least slightly interested) at how much and how many people at work hate cats, telling them I need to go home at lunch tomorrow to be vetted by the Cat Protection League, I got comments like "if I caught a cat in my garden I would strangle it", "ugh they make me itch" and "I hope you got it concrete boots, filthy animals s**t everywhere".
I don't understand their problem, and if they think cat's poo everywhere then they can't have looked after any cat's they had well.
And it wasn't a man thing either, it was 50/50 split on both sexes, although since it's an office of six I can't say it a good representative sample with 33% disliking cats, and 66% loving them. (don't ask what the remaining 1% feels I guess that represents a undecided spider or something)

On an associated issue one of Julies Internet leads led me to BJ-cat welfare, they sent me a email tonight to say they possibly had a kitten and could I let them have a few details about my circumstances, funny thing I had no interest whatsoever, it was too late, I'd decided on Jasmine and can't wait to collect her, any interest in a kitten seems to have totally disappeared. So I replied many thanks but I'm sorted.

Soon to be cat owner, hopefully

I went to the visit the Cat Protection League today, they had over hundred adult cats to look at, all cute and adorable.

After asking me a bit about myself, and what I wanted from a cat, they made a few suggestions showed me a dozen or so, but I went back the first one the woman showed me a part Siamese, called Jasmine.
She is a year and half old, I found her hiding under her bedding, but she came out and made a fuss and then purred like mad, when stroked.
Jasmine likes staying indoors so is ideal for a busy road, but as soon as I had finished looking at her a couple with 2 children took her out and seemed quite taken and so expected her to have gone by time I returned, she had not so I have reserved her.

The Cat Protection League do insist on home visits to check you out, this is arranged for Thursday during my lunch hour, so once that's sorted I expect to collect her next weekend.

Feeling very happy and wishing next weekend was here now

And a thank you to all those who have been looking for cats me especially Stephen who provided lots of leads, and Julie who provided useful links and sparked a interest in an adult cat rather than a kitten, I didn’t expect to be so taken.

Cat failure, perhaps I've set my goal to high.

Not had a cat for well over a year and been missing the joy a cat can bring, so I've been trying to get a new cat, a kitten to be precise since I love the kitten stage of owning a cat and think it would be a shame to miss out on that part of their lives.

So far its proving harder than I thought, perhaps the time of year or whatever, when I ring I'm always 3 or 4 days late, they have all gone, even the Cats Protection league only have older cats, Kittens go the day after they are checked by the vet so you have fall lucky.

So do I consider a young adult cat, I know for Julie that was a successful option, even if Missy her cat was traumatised when adopted.

I will hold out a few more weeks, before I decide on that score one way or the other, but since I need to get a cat soon so its settled before the battle/larp season starts or forget it for another year.

Advice welcome
