Cottage mice battles

This weekend I spent Saturday battling in a warm Chimera shop, although its been worse and I expect this week it will be worse with all the fuss the media are making about 28 degrees, its not like southern Europe where you get upto 40 degrees, or death valley where you get up into 50's although the name death valley says a lot.

The battle itself involved Sam and Jock fighting AndyL and loosing, probably because Jocks plan A went down the toilet through bad luck and they had no plan B, although I would say they had a very difficult job to do. I used 50 or so newly painted chaos warriors in the battle but I have no pictures since I didn't take my camera to the shop and now they are packed away.

Sunday I spent finishing my friend website for their holiday cottage, well getting to a stage they can check it, make comments, corrections, addition etc. So I spent a good few hours of my afternoon sitting at my computer screen, that's after nipping to PCworld for a new mouse. It really hard to find basic mouse, and they all seemed to be wireless, in the end I succumbed to a wireless one since the basic ones just didn't feel right.

Steam and websites

Last night I whipped together a website (take a look here) for my brother Robert for his driving school since he's competing against ever growing number of instructor and thinks he needs a web presence to for a younger audience who no longer use the yellow pages, but search the Internet.

Today I needed to make a Steam punk weapon for AscendancyLRP, lots of bits of brass including a candlesticks and the end of curtain rail, along with a fire extinguisher sprayed with brass paint. Yes and just my luck it was dry this morning the minute I popped outside to spray the extinguisher it started raining making the paint bubble, so I had to start again and fume up the house. Hopefully I will get photo while its being carried in costume tomorrow during the game.

I also went to see AndyT holiday cottage just finished, well he was still putting a door handle on, Phil and several others larpers from London will be staying there for 3 nights and it looks smashing, they will be the newly renovated houses first guests.

New Website

I have just change the link on my blog from Shards LRP to Ascendancy LRP which is the new website I have been working on along with Julie.

Julie put together the Forum since she knows far more than me about the languages used in setting it up, although that meant it was more like work for her, while I put main site together i.e all the pretty picture and links and I think it all looks good.

The colour scheme was chosen by Andy and Heather who run Ascendancy and while it seemed very bright at 1st, spending a few weeks with it as made it grow on me and I now think its quite a fresh look, especially after looking at the dull, woody, green dark brown website of other Fantasy sites.

Now its case of others grammar spell checking it for me and finding any broken links, plus remaining keen enough to keep it up to date and current.

Overall though I achieved a goal and learned a few tricks, and idea's for next time, and feel quite pleased with my efforts.

A web weekend

I spent this weekend working on a website not seeing daylight apart from a visit to my mums and the supermarket. I did this not because I had to or anything but because I was enjoying it, pulling all the bits together after getting a ok from the Andy & Heather on the layout.

Friday night I did go out going to see the movie Four the Rise of the Silver Surfer, not sure why they dropped the word Fantastic from the title. It was a good film far better than 1st Fantastic Four film and while not fantastic I would recommend it.

Before the movie I went for the 1st time to Frankie and Bennies. I was not expecting much these food chains can produce fairly bland food, but the food wasn’t bad, my friends treated me as a belated birthday present, so I tucked into a hot brownie, chocolate sauce and ice cream desert, at least I didn’t have the sparkly birthday desert of DaveP’s birthday earlier in the year.

Other than that I was sent a link to Facebook a kinda livejournal/blog/networking thing which I’ve joined, although not sure why yet, when I get time I will have a better look around.
