What do you think so far?

Trousers so far, I have calf/ankle detail to sort and buttons/button holes.
The waist band ended up a very messy sowing job, because I bent the needle, then broke the needle, running out of thread at the wrong moment and general inexperience in my sowing skills, all while trying to pleat a waist twice and a bit the size of final waist size into the waist band.
The width around calf is about 2 inches bigger than the mock up, and a lot fuller due the fabric and lining.
Jasmine hiding as I try to stretch the wool out neat to mark and cut. Jasmine was a real pain, and tried my patience while making these trousers and even manage to pull a thread in the part finished garment, she got away with it, by being so cute and amusing.

Pants mock up

Above without waist band, below with
Mock up of the trousers I intend to make just trying out for size, as you can see from the 1st before I added the waist band, they would go around me twice, they seem baggy enough, although not added to the mock up from the calf down the trousers are intended to be tight, not sure yet if button together or ties.

New Pants

New project started at last, taking advice from Julie I decided to make a mock up of the chudidaar style trouser I'm making for my new Character Gurunda. Stage 1 create a pattern, well Julie provided me a outline pattern but in the end I decided to copy the shape of a existing pair of Jogging bottoms and just widen them, the idea being I can shrink and change the shape during the sewing as they are mock up, so start big 1st. That's done and fabric cut out, currently I have 4 pieces of Fabric each one will go half way round my waist, so some will be absorbed by seams but with 4 bits I think they will be baggy enough, and of the hero pants variety I intend. Stage 2 will be working out the cuffs for ankles, may leave this until I make the real version of trousers.
During this process the hardest bit was stopping the cat nicking the chalk, pawing the scissors and rolling in fabric, who knows what she will do when the sewing machine is rolled out, either run from the noise or try to climb the fabric. Task were so much easier without a Jasmine the monkey, cat.

A cats dinner of it

My wonderful new Cat Jasmine decided to jump on my knee tonight while I was at the PC with my spaghetti bolognaise dinner sitting on my lap.
Jasmine landed in dinner expecting a solid surface or my knees like she normally finds but end up slipping pushing some of the food off the side of the plate onto my knee.
Final result, bolognaise sauce cat footprints on the carpet, spoilt dinner and a big smile at my cats foolish stunt.

The is the 2nd disaster in the last few days, since on Wednesday I think it was, Jasmine decided to jump on the top of wardrobe where I store lots of boxes of stuff.
This was late in the night and was sound asleep when heard a loud crash followed by Jasmine darting down the stairs at full pace, I'm not sure how but she had pulled the lot down, waking me, and possibly the neighbors. 10 second later she darted back up the stairs again at full pelt like a heard of tiny elephants, jumped onto my bed, and meowed.

Ah the joys of Cat ownership, I forgot the fun bits as well the good bits, at this moment I don't know I went for nearly 2 years without one.
