Communication failure

Its surprising how much communication relies on people being on the same wave length; then again it could be my hearing or the sales girl’s speech, or a deep desire for cake.

I asked for a warm Cornish pasty from the bakery stand behind the girl, "the one at the back" and she replied with “Cream tart”, I said “no the Cornish pasty” “Yes” she said ”Cream tart” as I realised we where failing to communicate so listened harder while I reached over and pointed at what I wanted “Crinkle topped” hmm obvious once you understand the Cornish pasty terminology.
